My First Love
March 30, 2006 @ 3:27 am | Listen to this postI miss you baby!

I signed up with myspace.com. Everybody except my Mom is on here. Scary.
Michelle my boss said something interesting the other day. She said, “We’ve got to get Mike a date in the next month and we’ve got to get you to keep a girl for a month.”
She’s right, I’m single again…
Tonight was a very special night. I celebrated White Day (see previous post) with Ye-won, a girl I’ve been dating for two and half weeks now. Though that seems short, we have gone out a lot. More then anybody else. It’s easy because she lives two subway stations away which means about 10 minutes of travel time. Major bonus. Things are going really well and were both looking for the same thing.
We went to a nice cafe to chat and open her presents. I got her chocolates (which said ‘Valentine’s Day’ on them), replacement candy, and a bottle of DNKY Be Delicious. My camera also came along, so pictures are available here:

After taking some pictures of the staff’s office at the end of the day, I walked outside and got to experience the first Hwangsa (yellow sand) of the year.
Sandstorms and/or duststorms that are affecting the Korean peninsula occur most frequently in the spring season in the arid and semi-arid area of sand deserts including Badainjaran, Tengger, Mu Us, Hunsandakue and Keoeolchin, Gobi region and Loess Plateau in the Asian continent.
The area of Asian dust source regions cover most of northern China and Mongolia. The traveling low-pressure systems accompanied with strong winds behind the associated cold fronts cause to raise dust into the atmosphere (Yellow Sand) resulting in visibility reduction of less than 1 ㎞ quite frequently.
I think I did more shopping last week, then I’ve done all my life! Saturday it started with the outlet malls, Gap, B. Republic, Levi’s, North Face, Adidas, etc., unfortunately I found nothing my size. I did get a much needed wall clock and laundry rack. Sunday was the big day at Samsung Plaza in Seohyeon. After 2 solid years with my Fujifilm FinePix 3800, I decided I needed an upgrade. “Say hello to my little friend” the Canon Digital IXUS 750. I was really close to getting an SLR camera, but I thought of the many many times I wanted to take pictures and couldn’t because I didn’t want to bring my bulky camera along. This one fits in my coat pocket. Also, it’s amazing how versatile it is. It makes me look like I actually know how to take pictures… puhaha.
The second thing I got was a gift for “White Day” tomorrow. In Korea, sometimes things are backwards compared to the US. Valentine’s Day is celebrated with females giving their male significant others gifts and White Day, 1 month later (March 14th), the males return the favor. Tomorrow I hope to have pictures of the gift with the person I got it for. Let the drama begin…
6 dates in 2 weeks? I think I like her…

Thanks Min-woo (Daniel) for the heads up. Free NCAA March Madness On Demand!!
What I really want to talk about is the madness in Korea right now. Tomorrow is the first day for public schools after a long winter break. Pre-Kindergarten parents usually at this time get anxious about their child’s education and move them around. AMS got hit pretty hard with lots of kids leaving. It was almost out of control when the mothers of our two best students (Joon-seo and Tae-yoo) decided to pulled them out. But Michelle got them to come in the next day and reconsider only with her teaching them personally. So it’s not as bad as it of could of been. It was just a shock to here that they could be gone since they been at the school for such a long time. You really realize how much these kids can grow on you when they’re gone.
