Crime Is Not A Circus
February 9, 2006 @ 11:38 pm | Listen to this postEvery once in a while, I browse KCStar.com to get my dose of KC sports news and columns from Whitlock and Posnanski (if I’m bored). But the main page where the top headlines are plotted has really got me disturbed with the content they post or more importantly what their priorities are. Under the recent headline stories, there’s a section for a blog called “Crime Scene KC“. The blog posts articles related to crime in Kansas City. It’s almost laughable that they depict acts of crime as important news or valuable information. One blog post updates you on the recent sex offenders who are teachers. But they only seem to update you on “female” teachers. Interesting. I couldn’t just read this without saying something, so this is what I said. You can find it here, but knowing that they have the ability to delete it, I want to document it here.
This blog is a joke and the KCStar.com is a fool for using it. Go out and do something to rid the social problems in your area that are the root problems of crime (ie. poverty, drug abuse, weapon availability, lack of education, etc…). Treating criminals or suspected criminals like celebrities does nothing but promote fear into the lives of others.
