February Randomness

February 25, 2006 @ 11:13 pm | Listen to this post

Things that I could of posted about at the time, but didn’t get a change to. So here they are:

Hien Joshua Tran: Joe & Nguyen had their first baby on February 22, 2006! He’s got some nice big hands on him, so Unkie Conor is going to show him how to run a good post pattern :)

Oasis: Not a bad concert. Lots of Koreans with a couple foreigners sprinkled in the Olympic Auditorium. It probably would of been better for me if I have actually listened to any of their albums.

MLB: Spring training has arrived and I suckered myself into purchasing the MLB All Access package. I’ll probably use it like twice the whole year. The Royos (Royals) did make some interesting deals for pitching. I’d say it’s a step in the right direction, but now we have like 8 4th starters. Mark Redman will be our ace? Why don’t we just sign Suppan again, they look alike. Also, I’m pumped for the Baseball World Cup or as the MLB named it, the World Baseball Classic. What a stupid name.

The Avalanches: Listen to the album Since I Left You by The Avalanches. It will make you wave your hands in the air and act like you just don’t care.

My Love Life: The dating continues, but Friday night was a first.

Sung Si-kyung Concert

February 20, 2006 @ 12:33 am | Listen to this post

Last night I went to see Sung Si-kyung at Hoam Arts Center in Seoul. The tickets were free, because I teach his managers kids. But I would of paid to see him anyway. It was my first Korean concert and it had everything that I excepted. 100/1 girl to guy ratio, elaborate lights, borderline gay wardrobes, glow sticks, and un-rhythmical clapping. It was a 3 hour show which was a little too much, but Park Jin-young did a special guest appearance and sang 2 songs. He’s like the P-Diddy of Korea. He used to be a famous singer, but now he’s a producer for the international superstar Be (Rain). I think only one person who will read this knows who I’m talking about :P

This Tuesday I’m going to see the UK band Oasis in Seoul. Stay tuned for that.

Crime Is Not A Circus

February 9, 2006 @ 11:38 pm | Listen to this post

Every once in a while, I browse KCStar.com to get my dose of KC sports news and columns from Whitlock and Posnanski (if I’m bored). But the main page where the top headlines are plotted has really got me disturbed with the content they post or more importantly what their priorities are. Under the recent headline stories, there’s a section for a blog called “Crime Scene KC“. The blog posts articles related to crime in Kansas City. It’s almost laughable that they depict acts of crime as important news or valuable information. One blog post updates you on the recent sex offenders who are teachers. But they only seem to update you on “female” teachers. Interesting. I couldn’t just read this without saying something, so this is what I said. You can find it here, but knowing that they have the ability to delete it, I want to document it here.

This blog is a joke and the KCStar.com is a fool for using it. Go out and do something to rid the social problems in your area that are the root problems of crime (ie. poverty, drug abuse, weapon availability, lack of education, etc…). Treating criminals or suspected criminals like celebrities does nothing but promote fear into the lives of others.

The Super Ball

Kick-off in Korea is at 8:30am Monday morning. I’ll be at a staff meeting getting ready for a new semester. I’ll have to wait for the 5:00pm delay with Korean announcers. Don’t tell me who wins!
