The New Lunar Year

January 31, 2006 @ 12:57 pm | Listen to this post

I never thought I could top myself, but I did. Now it’s just getting out of control.

As a friend once said, “When it rains, it pours.”

Transportation

January 27, 2006 @ 8:59 am | Listen to this post

Learning a new bus line is like eating a Russell Stover candie and getting Strawberry Cream (yum!) unstead of Coconut Cream (eww!).

After meeting “a friend” after work last night, I had to take a bus home since I wouldn’t make my subway transfer to get to Miguem Station. So after running for about 5 blocks I got to a very popular bus stop and looked at all the buses going near my home. I called another friend before to ask when the last bus was and what other ones go near my home. She said 12:30am, but when I got there, to my suprise, there were about 4 different buses that would take me home and do it until 1am. Sweet success!

Busy Week

I would of kept everybody informed of the many things I did this week, but I’m having problems with the mailing list function after upgrading to WordPress 2.0 and finding time to fix it is slim. So I’m unsure if this blog will still send posts to your email. But here’s a week in review of the highlights of the week:

  • Bought tickets with friends to see Oasis in Seoul (why not).
  • Shopped at Costco Korea and stacked up on processed food (mmmm Bagel Bites).
  • Went to the Seoul Arts Center to see Shostakovich’s 100th anniversary concert (I’m a big fan of him).
  • Drank at an Irish bar that has Guinness on tap (and it’s close to me).
  • And other fun things ;)

Start A Family

One of my friends in Korea is getting married and moving to Hawaii. Right now they have two (2 month old) puppies and want to take them to the US. If they can’t, then they will offer them to me. I’ve always wanted to get a puppy while living alone. Also, I was promised a dog in my childhood when moving to a new house with a fence, but the fence was never built. We won’t mention names ;) But should I have a dog(s)? That the real another question. How can I turn down these faces?

KBS Building

January 10, 2006 @ 2:55 am | Listen to this post

KBS Field TripToday AMS took some students for a field trip to the KBS Building in Seoul. So instead of teaching all afternoon, we got to take a spaceous coach bus and see where the magic happens. Originally I wasn’t suppose to go, but Clare was a saint and covered for me. The tour was nice, but I didn’t see any Korean TV Stars. Someday I will meet Park Seon-young and she will be mine. Oh yes, she… will… be… mine.

After getting my memory card stuck in an odd sized xD slot, I spent my evening trying to get it out. 2:36am - FINALLY!!!! Enjoy.

Rose Bowl Fiasco

January 8, 2006 @ 5:38 am | Listen to this post

Since the Texas vs. USC game was on at 10am when I was working, I waited a couple of days and downloaded it. That meant that I would have to refrain from seeing the results until I watched it. Well, that secret didn’t last long (Thanks Juli, a new USC trojan), but I still wanted to see the craziness and oh was it ever crazy. Texas is a great team, but USC played like a highschool team. Reggie Bush was even quoted as saying, “It used to work in highschool”, when referring to his lateral. Are-you-serious?

If you watched the game or are planning to watch it, read Bill Simmons’ game dairy from Page 2. It’s HI-LARRIOUS!

8:42 — Fourth-and-2 at midfield, Texas goes for it and gets absolutely stuffed. That’s quickly followed by our first promo for “Dancing With the Stars,” featuring celebrities dancers like Jerry Rice, Stacey Keibler, George Hamilton, Tatum O’Neal … and ESPN’s own Kenny Mayne. I will now pop a champagne bottle directly into my right eye.

2004 Leagues Under the Sea

How will I remember this last year?  Looking back at old posts, I’ve noticed a progressive downfall of energy and motivation.  This year had some great moments, but it also was a constant fight of keeping on task and getting my work done.  So 2004 was more of a transition between the unforgettable 2003 and a 2005 with enormous potential.  By no means am I disappointed in 2004, it just was a year filled with a lot of responsibility and nobody likes that :silly:

People that I will never forget in 2004…
You know who you are ;)
Things that come to mind in 2004…
TOA 2, Elite Eight, rock star hiatus, living solo, blues pubcrawl, birthday parties, trips I never took, a disappointing election, horrible KC sports, Chinese class, people leaving me, LA/Vegas.
Things to come in 2005…
Living in a loft, Graduation, Conor’s Mega Big Self-Indulgent Overkilled Graduation Party, visiting US cities with old friends, living in Seoul, and tons more!

2006?
Who knows. Living in another country is a day to day thing. You have to absorb every minute!
